EP Registered Nurse - New England Heart & Vascular

Position Summary:

Electrophysiology RN is known as an EPS nurse who works with patients who have arrhythmia conditions. EPS RN delivers cardiac patient care in a sub specialized environment in Electrophysiology ranging from basic to complex needs. EPS RN is expected to carry out tasks in a manner consistent with Performance Improvement and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. EPS RN demonstrates clinical excellence through proficient practice which enhances the practice environment. Proficiency is evidenced by adeptness, aptitude, ease and skill managing complexity and uncertainty. The EP RN is responsible for becoming adept with the medications and procedures to care for patients with arrhythmias and understand the use of cardiac devices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general direction of the NEHVI Clinical RN Leader and in accordance with standards of care and practice established by the Nursing Organization and the specific department; the rules, regulations and/or standards established by the State Board of Nursing, the Joint Commission, and appropriate specialty organizations relevant to the patient population under care, the incumbent performs the following functions:

• Recognizes cardiac arrhythmias and responds appropriately to monitor patient and intervene as needed.

• Provides education to patients undergoing electrophysiological procedures as needed.

• Recognizes cardiac arrhythmias and responds appropriately to monitor patient and intervene as needed.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

• Acquires, maintains and integrates knowledge of scientific principals and derived technology-based interventions and therapies in cardiac pacing, defibrillation and electrophysiology to provide and facilitate safe, optimal patient care.

Experience:

• Minimum of four years recent clinical experience in cardiac care.

• Understanding of cardiac arrhythmias & device interrogations preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

• Current registration in the state of New Hampshire as a Registered Nurse.

• BLS certified. Must maintain BLS throughout employment.

• ACLS certified. Must maintain ACLS throughout employment.
