What You'll Do
As a Lead Teacher specializing in Specialized Teaching Practices (STP), you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional educational experience for children in our care. Your responsibilities will include:
Instruction and Curriculum Development:
- Develop and Implement Curriculum: Design and execute engaging lesson plans and activities that align with STP methodologies and cater to various learning styles and developmental stages.
- Adapt Teaching Practices: Utilize specialized teaching techniques to address the diverse needs of children, including those with special educational needs or learning differences.
- Assess and Document Progress: Monitor and assess each child's progress, providing regular feedback and adjusting instructional methods as needed to support individual growth.
Classroom Management:
- Create a Positive Learning Environment: Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and positive social interactions.
- Manage Behavior: Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster respectful behavior and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with Families: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share updates on their child's progress, discuss any concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support learning at home.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other teaching staff and support personnel to ensure a cohesive approach to education and care. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of center-wide initiatives.
Professional Development:
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on best practices, emerging trends, and new research in early childhood education and specialized teaching practices.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to assistant teachers and interns, fostering a collaborative and growth oriented team environment
What You Bring
Education and Experience:
- Degree: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Certification: State teaching certification (if applicable) and any specialized training in STP or similar methodologies.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience working with young children in an educational setting, with a proven track record in implementing specialized teaching practices.
Skills and Abilities:
- Teaching Expertise: Strong knowledge of early childhood development and the ability to apply specialized teaching practices effectively.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Classroom Management: Proficient in creating a structured yet flexible classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage lesson planning, documentation, and other administrative tasks efficiently.
Personal Qualities:
- Empathy and Patience: Demonstrated ability to work with children in a compassionate and patient manner, understanding their individual needs and challenges.
- Adaptability: Flexibility in adapting to changing circumstances and needs within the classroom and the broader educational environment.
Work Schedule:
- Generally Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends for special events or meetings.
