What You'll Do:
- Demonstrate proficiency in using the Hospital and Laboratory Information System to perform clerical duties, including entering patient requisitions, ordering, collecting, receiving specimens, printing reports, and documenting telephoned results.
- Prepare, centrifuge, and aliquot laboratory specimens using automation or manual processes, preserving specimen integrity and ensuring accurate delivery to laboratory sections.
- Ensure STAT specimens are prioritized for delivery.
- Receive specimens, performing quality assurance (QA) checks for proper identification, labeling, and test orders.
- Operate equipment and automation for specimen processing, performing routine cleaning and preventative maintenance as required.
- Respond to Add-On Requests, including ordering, locating samples, and delivering them to the appropriate laboratory section.
- Maintain working knowledge of reference laboratory information systems to support orders and test information, printing specimen barcodes, and managing manifests.
- Respond to the computerized transport system (CTS or pneumatic tube), unloading specimens and facilitating timely processing.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy when providing service to patients, clients, visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel.
- Participate as a team member, adapting effectively to changes in procedures or circumstances.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding specimen requirements, turnaround times, and handling/transport guidelines.
- Complete Laboratory Quality Management (QM) Forms when deviations occur (e.g., improper labeling, misidentifications, specimen integrity issues).
What You'll Bring:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent laboratory clinical support experience.
