Cardiac Hospitalist

The New England Heart and Vascular Service at Catholic Medical Center is seeking two full time Cardiac Hospitalists to provide in patient cardiovascular disease care. The work schedule is a predictable 7 on 7 off scheduled 15 shifts per month. The scheduled shifts are 12 hour 7am to 7pm day/evening shifts. Duties include new admissions, acute care supervision of a cohort of patients with advance practice clinicians for the co -management of patients.

Primary Purpose:

To provide high quality, efficient, cost-effective cardiology medical services for the New England Heart and Vascular Institute located at Catholic Medical Center. Evaluates and manages new and established patients on the cardiovascular service. Works collaboratively with members of the cardiology service and other members of the patient care team to ensure the best deliverable comprehensive care. Creates and maintains a warm and friendly atmosphere for patients, Catholic Medical Center staff, referring and staff physicians, and visitors.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Treats and manages common conditions in the cardiovascular patient population or assigned cohort. Responsible for the urgent care of patients on the cardiology service already admitted as well as the evaluation of admissions from the emergency department, transfer center and the routine cardiology admission process.

2. Facilitates and orders diagnostic studies including echocardiograms, cardiac stress tests, advanced cardiac imaging and cardiac catheterization if in collaboration with the consult cardiologist.

3. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and has prescriptive authority for prescribing, ordering and administering medications.

4. Performs histories, physicals, and cardiac clinical management planning.

5. Performs daily contact rounding to ensure optimum care management and when appropriate plans and determines patient readiness for discharge with other members of the cardiac and health care teams.

6. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects/results of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient, family and significant others.

7. Performs procedures specific to the cardiac work environment after demonstrated competency and within the guidelines of scope of practice.

What You Will Bring:

1. The successful candidate must possess an MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine.

2. The successful candidate must be board certified in Internal Medicine.

3. The successful candidate will express a keen and demonstrated interest in cardiovascular medicine.

4. The successful candidate is eligible for licensure in the State of New Hampshire.

5. Current ACLS accreditation.
