Clinical Data Analyst - Quality Management, Per Diem

POSITION SUMMARY:

The clinical data analyst is responsible for performing simple to complex analysis of healthcare data from various sources both within and external to the organization. The data analyst will support day to day analytical and reporting needs of projects as well as strategic imperatives. The data analyst will be responsible for data consolidation, turning the data into knowledge by making the data meaningful as well as presentation of information to various leaders and members within the organization. The data analyst supports all quality based initiatives within the organization by defining performance and outcome metrics, creation and redesign of processes and data validation. Additionally the position is responsible for opportunity identification to support improved clinical and operational outcomes.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Performance Improvement and within established policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:

1. Develops a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of available electronic and non-electronic data sources.

2. Identifies data needs that cannot be met with current data sources.

3. Performs abstraction, analysis, and display of data to support performance improvement functions. Troubleshoots and analyzes data issues.

4. Identifies benchmarks and validates report results against requirements.

5. Develops report products that can be standardized to obtain actionable clinical and non-clinical data for PI decision-making.

6. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with peers and colleagues. Works collaboratively to achieve desired outcomes.

7. Collaborates on the development of clinical performance and improvement data for nursing and other clinical departments.

8. Understands Quality and Performance Improvement principles and methodology.

9. In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and the Director of Performance Improvement, prioritizes work based on the needs of the department and the organization.

10. Contributes to an effective teamwork environment

11. Participates in the continuing creation of the clinical systems vision at Catholic Medical Center by collaborating with IS, Business Intelligence, and others to identify gaps in data availability.

12. Collaborates on the development of clinical performance and improvement data for nursing and other clinical departments.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in healthcare or statistics related field.

Experience:

• A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years working experience in the related field.

• At least two (2) years' experience in Performance Improvement preferred.

• Advanced experience with MS Office Suite and statistical analysis

Licensure/Certification:

• Certified Professional of Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Health Data analyst (CHDA) preferred
