Infection Prevention Coordinator

The Infection Prevention Coordinator is a specialized position to directly assist the Director of Infection Prevention and serves as an integral member of the inpatient and ambulatory health care team. The Coordinator assists the director in coordinating the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of the Infection Prevention Program. Performs surveillance for healthcare associated infections, clusters and epidemiologically important infections using established criteria and definitions. Assists with instituting control measures in collaboration with the Director of Infection Prevention and hospital Infectious Disease Physician. This position is an educational resource for all employees regarding infection prevention and control related issues. General direction is received from the Director of Infection Prevention, who holds the employee responsible for the achievement of desired goals and outcome measures.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, public health or health care related experience required

Experience:

• Minimum two years of acute care hospital experience.

• relevant experience in infection control/prevention is preferred.

• Experience in adult education is preferred.

• Knowledge regarding disinfection and sterilization techniques is preferred.
