Registered Sonographer and Vascular Technologist - Vein & Vascular Center

Who you are:

As a Registered Sonographer and Vascular Technologist with The Vein & Vascular Center (VAVS) at Catholic Medical Center (CMC), you will be responsible for performing non-invasive diagnostic procedures to assess the vascular system and aid in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases. You will specialize in the use of ultrasound equipment to create the images of blood vessels and circulatory systems in the body. The ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, be a team player, and be dedicated to making a positive impact on the experience of our patients.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures to patients while performing studies and also correlate the history with the test to be performed.
  • Consult with the referring physician regarding patient's previous history and decision of appropriate ultrasound procedure required when necessary.
  • Perform ultrasound and non-invasive vascular studies.
  • Operate complex ultrasound equipment pertinent to department needs.
  • Utilize ancillary devices, Laser Camera, video recorder, and color imager to obtain permanent record of examinations.
  • Select proper transducer and frequency for performance of the examination.
  • Recognize the significance of all structures that are visualized at all times, to differentiate artifact from normal or pathological processes.
  • Must be able to determine if the anatomy is normal or abnormal and if deemed abnormal, to be able to delineate the abnormality and to extend the scope of the study appropriately.
  • Participate in reading session with physician and contribute technical and professional knowledge to the final diagnostic impression or report.
  • Coordinate stat ultrasound requests with the daily schedule to facilitate both.
  • Provide follow through on wet readings, completing the exam, developing the film, loading and unloading of cassettes and getting the radiologist to read the exam and reporting the findings to the referring physician.


What you'll bring:

• Registry or Certification from accredited two-year allied health program or two years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences.

• Satisfactory completion of formal ultrasound training program (1 year) or equivalent experience.

• Program should be recognized by CAHEA

• Two years' experience as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT

• BLS Required

• Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

• Must renew certification and/or registration annually with 30 hours of continuing education bi-annually.

• Currently registered with New Hampshire Board of Medical Technicians
